Credit Control Corporation (“CCC”) is a debt collection agency based in Virginia, United States. CCC Announces Data Breach

On or around May 15th, 2023, CCC began notifying patients of the breach, which exposed nearly 286,699 patient names, addresses, Social Security numbers, account numbers, account balances, and dates of service. 

CCC’s systems were breached between the dates of March 2nd, 2023, and March 7th, 2023, prompting an investigation into the full extent of the breach. It was soon revealed that bad actors had gained unauthorized access to thousands of clients’ confidential data.

CCC’s client medical providers are implicated in this 6-day data breach, meaning that hundreds of thousands of patients had sensitive information exposed to unauthorized users. 

The medical providers included in this data breach are as follows:

  • Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists
  • Chesapeake Radiology
  • Children’s Specialty Group
  • Dominion Pathology Laboratory
  • Emergency Physicians of Tidewater
  • Mary Washington Healthcare 
  • Medical Center Radiology 
  • RIverside Health System
  • Sentara Health System
  • Valley Health System
