UBH Announces Data Breach on May 10th, 2023
On or around November 7th, 2022, Uintah Basin Healthcare detected suspicious activity within its computer network. After hiring a third-party cybersecurity team to investigate, it was determined on April 7th, 2023 that legally protected health information was indeed accessible to unauthorized users.
After the investigation was completed on April 10th, 2023, UBH determined that approximately 103,974 individuals were affected by the data breach. The breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to, name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, health insurance data, and healthcare data including diagnosis/conditions, lab results, medications, and healthcare procedure data.
Uintah Basin Healthcare patients were notified of the data breach and subsequent investigation in a notice dated May 10th, 2023. UBH is a comprehensive healthcare system located in the Uintah Basin region in northeastern Utah, United States.
